Jobs
The State of Minnesota is now
the largest employer in the state, followed by the University of
Minnesota. I'll work to build a positive business climate to bring jobs back to our district and throughout Minnesota. Minnesota is ranked 8th in the
nation in corporate tax rates (9.25%). Many businesses have left for more business-friendly states, or farming employees from other countries. As your Representative, my priority is lowering the tax rates and regulations to encourage growth and job creation.
Education
Competition is healthy, and I am in support of parents having a choice of schools (public and private) that work best for their child. Despite declining
enrollment, 40 to 50 percent of the State of
Minnesota’s budget (over $34 billion) is spent on K-12 education. We
need to ensure that our classrooms are getting the resources that they
need before considering new programs of funding. There are unnecessary and unfunded mandates that
use up funds that should be addressed and possibly repealed. Control of our school districts should be at the local levels, not the State and Federal levels. Our children deserve the best education with responsible funding and local control.
Increasing our state's debt with more spending is the status quo with our current 38-year career incumbent. Minnesota can be restored and we can return to prosperity with fresh leadership!
